Mt. Franklin Employees Participated in Volunteer Day

Mt. Franklin leadership and employees in El Paso and San Antonio volunteered at New Braunfels Food Bank and Kelly Center for Hunger Relief. Employees sorted and prepared food items for thousands of families that came through the centers that day. Mt. Franklin Insurance is continuing its efforts by hosting a clothing drive encouraging the public to donate gently used clothing items for the Kelly Center Community Clothes Closet at any of their three El Paso locations.

When El Pasoan Shane Lipson returned home in 2010 after spending 15 years in New York City, he teamed up with Bill Carvajal to open Mt. Franklin Insurance. Today, after twelve acquisitions and lots of hard work, Mt. Franklin is the largest locally-owned independent insurance brokerage in El Paso. “I love El Paso, and I am committed to helping El Paso grow,” Lipson said. And El Paso loves Mt. Franklin Insurance. El Paso Inc. readers voted Lipson as the Best Insurance Agent in this year’s Best of El Paso contest. “This is the first time we’ve entered the Best of El Paso, and I am extremely happy to have won,” he said. “This win is a testament to the strong relationships we build with our clients.” With three offices in El Paso and one in San Antonio, Mt. Franklin Insurance offers commercial, personal, life and group health insurance, and bonding.
Lipson has more than two decades of experience in business operations and insurance, beginning his career as a management consultant working with global corporations to streamline processes and improve business strategies. During that time, he developed a specialty in the insurance industry, leading to roles at two of the largest brokers in the world. But he prefers the one-on-one customer relationship experience that he has today over building organizational models. Lipson states, “I enjoy using my years of large corporate experience to help individual clients, no matter the scale of their needs. I am not just an owner of Mt. Franklin; I am out there every day reviewing policies, having the conversations with my clients and carriers, and supporting my team.”
Lipson holds insurance licenses in multiple states and has achieved the distinguished Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) professional designation. In addition to meeting with clients, he has been tapped as a guest speaker for undergraduate business courses at different universities in the region, lectures about insurance to local organizations, and is an advocate for growing insurance education in El Paso.
By working directly with clients, Lipson has become a trusted partner to many business owners. “El Paso has a phenomenal base of small and mid-sized businesses that are doing some really great things,” Lipson said. “We help all business types, from contractors to professional services and everything in between. Shane did a deep dive into property insurance with students, shared his passion for the insurance industry, and spoke to how lucrative a career in this field can be. It was clear that Shane was able to inspire these young minds to consider a career in the industry he loves so much.

Shane was personally invited by NMSU’s Associate Professor and Mountain States Insurance Group Endowed Chair, Tim Query, Ph.D., C.P.A.,A.R.M. to host a class on the Principles of Insurance. Shane shared his vast knowledge of the industry and his passion for his craft. These college students were engaged and captivated by some of Shane’s real life experiences. We hope all of these Aggies go on to do great things in the insurance industry and their respective communities.
